Africa: Uganda intense elections

Yoweni Museveni (74) 34 years long presidency has once again come under threat as rival Bobi Wine (38) seems to be popular amongst young voters.

Wine has already declared victory, telling journalists “I believe we have defeated the dictator, I call upon Ugandans to reject blackmail, we have certainly won the elections and we won it by far”.


According to Electoral Commission of Uganda, with 49.1% of the votes counted Museveni is leading with 62.7% while the opposition has 29.3% of the elections so far. The next batch of results will be due at 9pm.


On Twitter, Wine has declared that they are under siege, he twittered that the military has jumped over the fence and taken control of their homes.


The final results will be available within the next 48 hours.
