CENTCOM: Iran’s threat capability in the Strait of Hormuz weakened
Washington, March 21 (Hibya) - The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that Iran’s ability to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased following airstrikes.
According to the BBC, the U.S. military targeted an underground facility in Iran this week that housed cruise missiles and weapons depots.
According to official data, intelligence sites monitoring ship movements and missile radar relay stations were destroyed as part of the operation. CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that more than 8,000 military targets have been struck so far, including 130 Iranian vessels.
It was noted that Iran’s ability to restrict freedom of navigation in the region has been disrupted following the attacks and that tracking of targets will continue.
In a video message, Cooper emphasized that the operation has affected the security balance in the region.
