CENTCOM: Remains believed to belong to soldier missing in Iranian attacks found
Washington, July 19 (Hibya) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that unidentified human remains believed to belong to the American soldier who went missing following Iran's July 17 attack in Jordan have been found.
In a statement, CENTCOM recalled that it had previously announced the deaths of two U.S. service members and that one soldier remained missing. "Today, unidentified human remains were found at the incident site. The process of confirming the identity of the remains is ongoing," the statement said.
The statement also noted that on July 18, one U.S. service member was killed and another sustained minor injuries during the controlled disposal of unexploded ordnance from a one-way Iranian attack drone that had been shot down in northern Iraq.
CENTCOM stated that the identities of the deceased and missing service members will not be released until the official notification process for their families has been completed.
