Meloni: Not forgetting the Capaci Massacre is our responsibility for justice and legality
Rome, May 23 (Hibya)- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commemorated Giovanni Falcone and those who lost their lives alongside him on the anniversary of the Capaci Massacre, emphasizing the importance of the struggle for justice and awareness of legality.
Italian Prime Minister Meloni published a message on the anniversary of the Capaci Massacre, which took place on May 23, 1992.
Meloni recalled that Judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo, and escort police officers Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo, and Antonio Montinaro lost their lives in the attack, stating that the event remains one of the darkest pages in Italy’s history.
Emphasizing that the sacrifices of those who lost their lives for justice should never be forgotten, Meloni noted that the National Day of Legality, commemorated since 2002, is not only an occasion to honor mafia victims but also an important opportunity to instill awareness of the rule of law and civic responsibility, especially among young people.
