Teams from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) are supporting efforts to combat the ongoing forest fires in Serbia.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced that a Russian Il-76 firefighting aircraft carried out 5 sorties on the first day of the response.

According to a statement posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s social media account, the EMERCOM Il-76 aircraft conducted 5 flights to the fire zones on the first day of the operation.

During these flights, the aircraft carried out a total of 10 water drops.

It was reported that a total of 210 tons of water was dropped on the affected areas as part of the firefighting operations.
