Tajani: We will ask the EU to activate the Civil Protection Mechanism for Venezuela
Rome, June 25 (Hibya) – Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said they are closely monitoring developments following the powerful earthquake in Venezuela and will ask the European Union (EU) to activate its Civil Protection Mechanism to support emergency relief efforts.
In his statement, Tajani said the situation following the earthquake is being closely monitored and expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela.
Emphasizing that Italy stands with the Venezuelan people, Tajani said: "I am closely following developments after the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela. I express my solidarity with Interim President Delcy Rodriguez and reaffirm that Italy stands with the people of Venezuela during this difficult time."
Noting that assessments of the damage and casualties are still ongoing, Tajani added: "We are ready to provide support while evaluations of the damage and loss of life continue. We will ask the European Union to activate the Civil Protection Mechanism to coordinate and finance emergency response efforts."
