U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that energy independence and the use of fossil fuels are essential for economic prosperity.

Criticizing the United Kingdom for not utilizing its energy resources, Trump said: “Europe desperately needs energy, yet the United Kingdom refuses to develop North Sea oil, one of the largest reserves in the world. Tragic, Aberdeen needs to develop.”

Pointing to economic losses through the example of Norway, Trump stated: “Norway sells North Sea oil to the United Kingdom at double the price. They are making a fortune. The United Kingdom, which is in a better position than Norway in the North Sea, should drill. Not doing so is absolutely crazy.”

Trump concluded his remarks by clarifying his stance against renewable energy investments, saying: “And no more windmills.”
