New York, July 27 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention to the scars left by the conflicts in the country in a statement following his visit to Syria. Guterres said that despite the losses suffered by Syrians, he had witnessed resilience and hope, and called on the international community to provide support.

Guterres said that his visit in solidarity with Syria and its people had come to an end, noting that he had witnessed the scars left by years of conflict in the country.
Guterres stated that he had listened to people's experiences of pain, loss, displacement and fear in Syria, while also witnessing the resilience, courage and determination of society.
Offering a message of hope for Syria's future, Guterres said, "I felt a deep sense of hope for a future in which rights are respected, equality is ensured and opportunities are shared."
Stating that the UN stands with Syria at a critical time, Guterres also called on the international community to support the Syrian people.
Guterres' statement came at a time when reconstruction and humanitarian needs are on the agenda following years of conflict in Syria.
