US deploys three aircraft carriers simultaneously in the Middle East
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that, for the first time in decades, three US aircraft carriers are operating simultaneously in the Middle East.
According to CCTV, the statement said that USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Gerald R. Ford and USS George H.W. Bush are operating in the region. It was reported that these ships carry more than 200 aircraft and around 15,000 marines and personnel.
CENTCOM announced a day earlier that the Bush carrier strike group had entered its area of responsibility and was located in the Indian Ocean. It was noted that the Nimitz-class vessel departed from the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia at the end of March.
It was stated that USS Abraham Lincoln is operating in the Arabian Sea, mainly supporting naval blockade operations, while USS Gerald R. Ford is deployed in the northern Red Sea, carrying out maritime security activities.
It was noted that the US military is expected to continue deploying three aircraft carriers simultaneously in the region during the process in which USS George H.W. Bush will replace USS Gerald R. Ford.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Defense stated that the country has never halted the production of defense equipment and continues to meet the needs of its armed forces.
The developments are taking place at a time when uncertainty persists around a fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran. It is stated that the US continues its naval blockade and that possible military actions remain on the agenda.
