US stock markets ended the day higher
Istanbul, May 15 (Hibya) - Indexes in the US stock markets closed the trading day higher. While buying in technology stocks supported the Nasdaq index, the volatility index VIX declined.
A positive trend was observed in the US stock markets during the trading day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 0.75 percent to 50,003.46 points. The S&P 500 index increased 0.77 percent to 7,501.24 points, while the technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.88 percent to close at 26,635.22 points.
The Russell 2000 index, which tracks small-cap company stocks, also rose 0.67 percent to 2,863.086 points.
The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), regarded as an indicator of market volatility, declined 3.41 percent to 17.26.
