Yotova stated that following the adoption of the budget law by parliament, the presidency had received numerous opinions from political parties, trade unions, and civil society organizations, all of which had been carefully reviewed. She said the criticism regarding the size of the budget deficit and the amendments made to certain laws through the budget legislation was justified, emphasizing the need for stronger fiscal discipline and more responsible management of public finances.

Recalling that Bulgaria had been operating for seven months under the extended 2025 budget, Yotova said that sending the budget back to parliament would further jeopardize the state's financial operations, adding: "We cannot allow the state to face further institutional and financial uncertainty."

The Vice President stressed that any further delay in the budget would negatively affect municipalities, the healthcare and education systems, as well as social benefit payments. Yotova stated: "The public interest lies in restoring the normal budget process and ensuring that the state continues to function properly."

Yotova also said that all institutions should now focus on preparing the 2027 budget, adding, "Long-awaited reforms must be implemented, and the financial and social security of citizens must be strengthened."
