Zelensky: 13 people killed in Russian attacks
Kyiv, August 20 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 13 people were killed and around 40 others were injured in Kyiv and the surrounding area in attacks carried out by Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia carried out a large-scale attack overnight using various ballistic and cruise missiles as well as unmanned aerial vehicles.
Zelensky said damage was reported in Kyiv and the surrounding area, as well as in the Odesa and Chernihiv regions. He stated that residential buildings, a children's hospital and a school were damaged in the capital Kyiv, while the upper floors of a high-rise building were destroyed.
Zelensky said that 12 people were killed in Kyiv and one person in the surrounding region, adding that around 40 people were injured.
Zelensky noted that a border crossing with Moldova was attacked in the Odesa region, while natural gas infrastructure was targeted in the Chernihiv region.
Stating that search and rescue operations are continuing, Zelensky stressed the need to strengthen defenses against ballistic missiles and said that Patriot interceptors are needed.
