Zelensky: Our anti-aircraft missile forces are our main deterrent
Kyiv, July 3 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a message on the occasion of the Day of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Ukrainian Air Force.
In his message marking the Day of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country's air defense units constitute the most critical barrier against Russian attacks, stressing that Ukraine continues its determined resistance in the fifth year of constant and intense aerial assaults.
Highlighting the vital role of air defense units in protecting civilians and critical infrastructure, Zelensky said: "Our warriors protect our people, our cities, and our critical infrastructure from Russian attacks day and night. The anti-aircraft missile forces are the main deterrent against Russian aerial attacks."
Referring also to the work of drones, Zelensky said: "Drones, missiles, aircraft — throughout the years of war, the soldiers of our anti-aircraft missile forces have destroyed tens of thousands of enemy targets. And we all see the results of this work."
Recalling one of the turning points in Ukraine's defense history and summarizing the country's current situation, President Zelensky concluded: "On May 4, 2023, a Ukrainian Patriot unit became the first in the world to intercept a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile. Ukraine is now in its fifth year of living under constant and intense aerial attacks."
