Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei claimed that the United States has adopted a “dishonest” approach toward the Iranian people, stating that although the diplomatic process has been conducted in good faith, past experiences have created serious doubts.

Baqaei said that Iran signed the memorandum of understanding in order to end the imposed war, but noted that the trust deficit between the parties still persists.

He added that contradictory statements by U.S. officials have negatively affected the process, stressing that “mutual commitments must be fulfilled and interpretations that contradict the text should be avoided.”

The spokesperson noted that Iran would closely monitor the process in light of past experiences and would determine its future steps accordingly.
