Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei criticized the humanitarian impact of certain strategies implemented internationally and the mindset behind these approaches.

Characterizing the policies in question, Baqaei said: “It is utterly disgusting that policies deliberately inflicting pain and suffering on innocent people are presented with an arrogant sense of righteousness. This only reveals the inhumane mindset behind them.”

Addressing the legal and humanitarian dimensions of these practices, Baqaei said: “These are economic terrorism and state-sponsored extortion in their very essence; acts that constitute crimes against humanity and, through their cumulative effect, amount to genocide.”
