Carney: Canada is strengthening defense cooperation with Sweden
Ottawa, June 30 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that trade between Canada and Sweden has more than doubled over the past five years and that negotiations have begun on producing Saab's GlobalEye airborne early warning and control platform in Canada.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that trade relations between Canada and Sweden have developed significantly in recent years.
Noting that negotiations have begun this year on the procurement and production in Canada of Saab's GlobalEye advanced airborne early warning and control platform, Carney said, "Trade between Canada and Sweden has more than doubled over the past five years. This year, we began negotiations on the acquisition and production in Canada of Saab's GlobalEye advanced airborne surveillance and control platform."
Referring to his meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Carney said, "This morning, Prime Minister Kristersson and I discussed the emerging opportunities and how we can build further on this progress."
