Costa: ICC independence must be protected
Brussels, August 19 (Hibya) - European Council President Costa, together with Ursula von der Leyen, expressed support for the International Criminal Court, its President Tomoko Akane and officials carrying out the Court's mission.
European Council President Costa made a statement regarding the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Costa said that together with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, they stand with the ICC, Court President Tomoko Akane and the officials who continue to carry out the institution's mission.
Costa said the ICC helps deliver justice to victims of the world's most serious crimes, stressing that the Court's judges and officials must be able to carry out this important mission independently and free from external pressure.
