Costa: We aim to upgrade EU-ASEAN relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership
Brussels, October 8 (Hibya) - European Council President António Costa announced that the goal is to upgrade relations between the EU and ASEAN to a comprehensive strategic partnership at next year's summit.
European Council President António Costa met with the ASEAN Brussels Committee as part of preparations for the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit scheduled for next year.
Speaking after the meeting, Costa noted that the EU and ASEAN have long been reliable partners and expressed their determination to further deepen relations as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations approaches.
Costa stated: "Our shared goal is to formally upgrade EU-ASEAN relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership."
