Voting took place for seats in the Senate and House of Representatives during the US congressional midterm elections held on November 3, 2026. According to the election results, Democrats secured a majority in the Senate, taking control from Republicans.

According to results reported by the Associated Press (AP), Democrats made gains in Senate races in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio and North Carolina. Sherrod Brown was reelected to the Senate in Ohio, while James Talarico won the election in Texas.

The elections for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives also reshaped the distribution of seats between the parties. Vote counting and the process of finalizing results continued in some electoral districts.

With Democrats taking the Senate majority, the party balance in Congress has shifted. The political composition of both chambers of Congress for the new term will become clear once the distribution of seats in the House of Representatives is finalized.
