IDF: Hamas Northern Gaza Naval Commander neutralized
Jerusalem, March 17 (Hibya) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced that Yunus Mohammed Hussein Alian, the Naval Commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza Brigade, was killed in a joint operation.
In a joint statement by the IDF and the internal security service Shin Bet, it was reported that an operation was carried out against Hamas’s naval infrastructure.
During the operation conducted yesterday under the direction of naval intelligence, Yunus Mohammed Hussein Alian, the commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza naval brigade, was targeted. He was reportedly responsible for commanding and managing naval units, forming new forces, training personnel, and overseeing weapons systems.
Israeli military sources stated that Alian had recently been attempting to rebuild naval capabilities in the Gaza Strip and was planning terrorist attacks against IDF forces both within Gaza and on Israeli territory in the near future.
According to the statement, "The terrorist was struck immediately after posing a real threat to the IDF. Prior to the strike, measures were taken to minimize harm to civilians, including the use of precision weapons, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence."
The IDF emphasized that units under the Southern Command continue to operate in the area and will maintain efforts to eliminate immediate threats.
