Kos: Bulgaria serves as a gateway to Europe
Brussels, October 8 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that Bulgaria is a key connection point for the Western Balkans and Türkiye, emphasizing the need to strengthen transport, energy and trade links.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos commented on Bulgaria's role in connecting Europe with the Western Balkans and Türkiye.
Kos stated: "Bulgaria is a gateway to Europe. It is a critical connection point for the Western Balkans and Türkiye."
Kos said that the Corridor 8 Ministerial Meeting addressed efforts to complete missing transport links through Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania.
Emphasizing the importance of these connections for strengthening cooperation in the Western Balkans and bringing the region closer to the European Union, Kos said she met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Radev, Foreign Minister Petrova and Transport Minister Peev as part of preparations for next year's Connectivity Summit.
Kos added that the meetings also addressed strengthening energy and trade connections through the Black Sea and the South Caucasus.
