Leyen: Poland is one of the main pillars of Europe’s security architecture
Warsaw, April 23 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and signed a €43 billion loan agreement aimed at increasing Europe’s defense capacity.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of Poland, underlining that the resources allocated to defense projects are an investment in the security of all Europe.
Referring to Poland’s role, von der Leyen said, “As I told Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Poland is one of the main pillars of Europe’s security architecture. You help ensure the security of our eastern flank.”
Sharing details of the signed agreement, von der Leyen stated, “Therefore, Poland is the largest beneficiary of SAFE (Security and Resilience for Europe).”
In her statement, Leyen added, “Today, we signed a €43 billion loan agreement for defense projects that make our Union safer. Let’s move forward.”
