Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni responded to remarks made by Democratic Party (PD) Secretary Elly Schlein regarding the attempted attack on journalist Sigfrido Ranucci.

In a post on social media, Meloni referred to statements Schlein made ahead of the Party of European Socialists (PES) congress held in Amsterdam on October 18, 2025.

Meloni said that Schlein had expressed support for Ranucci at the time, stating: "Democracy is in danger, freedom of expression is in danger when the far right is in power."

Meloni noted that, during a television program on July 27, 2026, Schlein stated: "I did not establish any link between the government and the instigators."

The Italian prime minister argued that, for months, Schlein and several figures on the left had created a narrative through insinuations and indirect remarks linking the government to the incident, damaging Italy's reputation in the eyes of the international public.

In her post, Meloni wrote: "Words carry weight. So do insinuations. Those who chose to cast a shadow over the government and Italy should not deny the truth today. They should simply apologize."

The debate over Schlein's remarks resurfaced in Italian politics following the attempted attack on journalist Sigfrido Ranucci.
