Northeastern China's first solar power plant begins generating electricity
Beijing, June 29 (Hibya) – Northeastern China's first solar power plant has officially begun generating electricity in Jilin Province.
According to CCTV, northeastern China's first solar power plant has officially begun generating electricity in Jilin Province.
The 100-megawatt Jixi concentrated solar power project, operated by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) in Da'an City, is also the northernmost solar energy facility in the country.
The project is expected to generate approximately 180 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. According to a statement by CGN, the facility will save around 54,000 tons of standard coal each year compared to coal-fired power generation and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 139,000 tons annually.
Officials emphasized that the commissioning of the plant marks a major milestone in the application of solar energy technology in regions with high latitudes and harsh climatic conditions, adding that the project will serve as a model for similar renewable energy investments across the country.
