Putin: I hope the new IOC leadership will overcome this shameful legacy
Moscow, April 23 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the past policies of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and expressed his expectation that the new leadership will free the Olympic movement from political influence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced his opposition to the politicization of sports, highlighting the negative impact of the IOC’s previous stance on the global sports community.
Criticizing the decisions of the previous leadership, Putin said: “The shameful, cowardly, and politically driven actions of the previous IOC leadership have caused great damage to the Olympic movement and the fundamental principles of Olympism.”
Emphasizing his expectations for the new period, Putin stated: “I hope the new IOC leadership will overcome this shameful legacy as soon as possible.”
