Ukraine and Saudi Arabia sign defense cooperation agreement
Kyiv, March 27 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the signing of a defense cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia, laying the groundwork for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investments.
President Zelensky stated that an important defense cooperation agreement had been reached between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed ahead of a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
Zelensky emphasized that the agreement forms the basis for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investments, and strengthens Ukraine’s role as a security contributor on the international stage. He noted that Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and systems with Saudi Arabia and aims to enhance the joint capacity to protect lives.
The statement recalled that Ukrainians have continued for a fifth year to resist ballistic missile and drone attacks similar to those carried out by the Iranian regime in the Middle East and Gulf region. It also noted that certain capabilities and technologies of Saudi Arabia are of interest to Ukraine and that cooperation could be mutually beneficial.
The meeting also addressed the situation in the Middle East and Gulf region, Russia’s support for the Iranian regime, developments in fuel markets, and potential energy cooperation.
