Zakharova: We condemn the terrorist attack in Niger
Moscow, June 20 (Hibya) – Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova made a statement regarding the attack on the international airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the attack that took place on June 18 in Niger and targeted Niamey International Airport.
Zakharova stated that Moscow is following developments in Niger, which it considers a friendly country, with concern, and said that the attack was carried out by anti-government militants.
The statement noted that Niger’s Ministry of Defense described the attackers as “mercenaries acting in the interests of France.”
The Russian side strongly condemned the attack, emphasizing that attempts to undermine the stability of the Alliance of Sahel States are unacceptable, and expressed solidarity with the people and government of Niger.
