Anand: Canada and Mexico are partnering to address today's challenges
Ottawa, July 17 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that more than $12 million has been allocated under the Canada-Mexico partnership to combat international criminal networks, identify missing persons, and prevent illegal fishing.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand stated that Canada and Mexico are engaged in a strategic partnership to address today's challenges and seize tomorrow's opportunities, emphasizing that the projects are advancing the Canada-Mexico Action Plan.
Providing details of the funding and technological support announced together with Mexico's Foreign Minister R. Velasco, Anand said, "Canada and Mexico are partnering to address today's challenges and tomorrow's opportunities. I announced more than $12 million in funding to combat international criminal networks, identify missing and deceased persons in Mexico, and provide comfort to their families."
Anand concluded her statement by highlighting the fight against illegal fishing and the future of bilateral relations, saying, "Canadian satellite technology will also help detect illegal fishing carried out by dark vessels. Together, these projects are advancing the Canada-Mexico Action Plan and strengthening our relationship."
