Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis met with Jo Yong Won, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. During the meeting, the reopening of Switzerland's diplomatic office was welcomed, while developments in North Korea and opportunities to strengthen relations between the two countries were discussed.

Cassis emphasized the importance of resuming operations at the Swiss diplomatic office and stated that they had exchanged assessments of current developments in North Korea.

The two sides also discussed possible steps to further develop bilateral relations between Switzerland and North Korea.
