The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the impunity rate for the killings of journalists has risen to 86 percent in its statement marking the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

The ministry stated that members of the Media Freedom Coalition had called for the safety of journalists and media workers to be ensured. The statement emphasized the importance of enabling journalists to carry out their professional duties in safe conditions.

Including the appeal from coalition members, the statement said, "Journalists and media workers must be protected so they can safely carry out their essential work."
