Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made a statement regarding his country's sovereignty.

Defining sovereignty as a people's freedom to choose their own path and build their future without external interference, Lula said, "Sovereignty is the freedom of a people to choose their own paths, make their own decisions and build their future without external interference."

Lula said the country must uphold its history and defend its national interests, stating, "A truly free nation is one that has the right to decide for itself."

Emphasizing Brazil's sovereignty, Lula concluded his statement with the words, "Long live sovereign Brazil!"
