Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the decisions taken during the Cabinet meeting.

Meloni said the measures introduced to counter rising fuel prices have been extended until August 25, noting that the international environment remains "extremely complex."

She stated that the variable fuel tax mechanism will be reactivated as of August 25 and that developments will continue to be closely monitored, with additional measures to be considered if necessary.

Meloni also announced that interventions in the Campi Flegrei area have been strengthened. She said additional resources have been allocated to support affected families, ensure the safety of buildings, and assist local authorities in managing the situation.

The prime minister also announced the approval of permanent teacher appointments ahead of the new academic year. A total of 46,642 teachers will be hired, including 10,810 special education teachers.

Meloni added that school principals, education staff, religion teachers, and ATA personnel are also included in the appointments, stressing that the new special education teachers will strengthen continuity and inclusiveness in education.

She concluded by saying that the challenges cannot be resolved in a single day and that the government will continue to monitor developments responsibly and take further action whenever necessary.
