Rubio: American citizenship is not for sale
Washington, August 12 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said birth tourism networks are exploiting the visa system, announcing that the Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force took action in one month to revoke more than 600 visas held by foreign nationals.
U.S. Secretary of State Rubio made a statement regarding efforts to combat birth tourism.
Rubio said some birth tourism networks offer foreign nationals methods to defraud the U.S. visa system, arrange travel and accommodation, and prepare fraudulent documents to enable children to obtain U.S. citizenship.
The U.S. Department of State reportedly established the Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force to investigate these activities, dismantle illegal birth tourism networks and prevent abuse of the visa system.
Rubio announced that during the task force's first month of operations, action was taken to revoke more than 600 visas held by foreign nationals around the world.
Rubio said the U.S. Department of State would use all available tools to dismantle birth tourism networks and protect the integrity of U.S. citizenship.
