Russell: Children do not start wars
New York, June 24 (Hibya) - UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell drew attention to the devastating impact of global conflicts on children and the responsibilities of the international community.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell emphasized that children play no role in starting wars and lack the power to stop them, stressing that all children around the world have the right to live in peace.
Referring to the deep scars wars leave on children, Russell said: "Children do not start wars and are powerless to stop them. They die, suffer, and carry the scars of war for decades."
Recalling humanity’s obligations toward children, who represent the future of mankind, Russell stated: "We owe children a world where they can grow up, learn, and dream in peace."
