Umerov: We are working with our partners on Ukraine's reconstruction and economic development
Brussels, November 4 (Hibya) - Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov announced that two important meetings had been held with international partners in Brussels, focusing on Ukraine's post-war reconstruction, economic development, and defense financing for 2027.
Umerov stated that the first meeting focused on Ukraine's Prosperity Plan. Representatives of the European Commission, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, NATO, the World Bank, and BlackRock attended the discussions, which addressed steps to rebuild the country after the war, attract investment, and promote economic growth. Umerov said, "This document will determine how we rebuild Ukraine after the war, how we attract investment, and how we create opportunities for our economy to grow."
The second meeting focused on the financing needed for Ukraine's defense expenditures in 2027, closing the budget deficit, and potential sources of funding. Umerov noted that the threats posed by Russia to Ukraine and Europe were also assessed and that the participants agreed on concrete steps and timelines.
Umerov announced that discussions on security guarantees for Ukraine would continue the following day. "Long-term security for Europe is not possible without long-term security for Ukraine," he said. Emphasizing that security guarantees, reconstruction, and economic development are complementary priorities, Umerov described them as parts of a single plan for Ukraine's future.
