European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that she had held an important discussion on artificial intelligence with Bill Gates and executives from the digital sector.

Stating that artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities in industry, healthcare and innovation, von der Leyen emphasized the need to strike the right balance between harnessing this potential and establishing regulations that ensure trustworthiness and cybersecurity.

Recalling that the European Union has an AI Act aimed at ensuring that artificial intelligence is developed under human oversight, von der Leyen stated that they would continue to support international cooperation and the establishment of common standards to manage the rapid development of AI for the benefit of humanity.
