Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement on the ongoing response following a Russian drone attack on the village of Myla near Kyiv.

Zelensky said that 27 people have been killed so far in the attack, dozens have been injured and more than 370 people have been evacuated.

In a statement on his social media account, Zelensky said authorities have been dealing with the aftermath of the attack in the village of Myla since last night. He said coordination centers had been established on the ground to help people and that all necessary services had been mobilized.

Zelensky said teams from the State Emergency Service were working in the area, with more than 300 personnel deployed. He said a warehouse was struck in the attack and an explosion followed.

Zelensky said surrounding infrastructure had been seriously damaged, adding that residential buildings as well as a care home for the elderly and people with disabilities were also damaged.

Regarding the toll from the attack, Zelensky said: “For now, 27 people have been reported killed.”

Zelensky said Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivka community, was among those killed, adding that Didych died while trying to save people.

Zelensky said: “I offer my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.”

Zelensky said dozens of people were injured and more than 370 people had been evacuated so far, while evacuation efforts were continuing.

Zelensky said he received reports from Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi and Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi following the attack.

Stressing that those responsible for the incident must be held accountable, Zelensky said: “Those who allowed this to happen must be held responsible for their decisions.”

Zelensky said investigators from the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine were conducting a preliminary investigation and that criminal cases had been opened on charges of official negligence.

Zelensky also drew attention to rules on ammunition storage, saying: “There are rules – ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas.”

Zelensky said the necessary conclusions would be drawn following what happened, adding: “Appropriate conclusions will, of course, be made.”

Zelensky said attacks were also carried out on different regions of Ukraine throughout the night.

Zelensky said the Odesa, Dnipro, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Donetsk and Chernihiv regions were affected by the attacks, and that more than 260 attack drones were used overnight.

Zelensky also said Banderol drones were used and that Kyiv came under almost continuous attack by jet-powered drones.

Emphasizing that Ukraine cannot be left alone in developing defensive solutions against such attacks, Zelensky thanked those helping Ukraine with additional support packages and sanctions measures against Russia.

Zelensky pointed to the need to strengthen his country’s defense capabilities against air attacks and emphasized the importance of international support.
