Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commemorated the Ukrainian defenders who lost their lives while fighting for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.

Zelensky said in his statement that, as every year, they are paying tribute today to those who gave their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity.

Expressing pride in Ukraine’s defenders, Zelensky thanked all soldiers who fought for the country and put their lives on the line.

Zelensky emphasized that all generations of the Ukrainian people should remember and honor the life of every warrior and every hero who lost their life on the battlefield defending the state and freedom.

Zelensky said in his statement: “Today, as we do every year on this day, we pay tribute to the fallen defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives fighting for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.”

Zelensky said they were grateful to all their defenders and thanked “everyone who stood up for Ukraine today and everyone who put their lives on the line for it.”

Zelensky also expressed endless gratitude to all the heroes who defended Ukraine’s territory, its people and its right to be free.

At the end of his statement, Zelensky said the memory of those who lost their lives fighting for Ukraine must be preserved, adding: “May the memory of all Ukrainian heroes who fought and gave their lives so that Ukraine could live be eternal and blessed.”
