Metsola: We will continue to amplify the voices of the sisters oppressed by the Iranian regime
Brussels, September 15 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola shared the story of twin sisters Taraneh and Romina Rahimi, who were subjected to torture and abuse by the Iranian regime, and condemned the regime's repression.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stressed that this is the story of just two of the many young people in Iran who face the death penalty or imprisonment for demanding the right to live freely.
Referring to the sisters' struggle, Metsola said, “They are two of the many young people facing the death penalty or imprisonment for the ‘crime’ of demanding to live freely in Iran.”
Stating that the victims would not be silenced, Metsola said, “They will not be quietly buried in darkness.”
Metsola concluded her statement by saying, “The European Parliament will continue to keep their light shining until it breaks through the darkness.”
