In Australia, the ASX 200 index fell 0.44 percent to 9,222.40 points. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index rose 1.89 percent to 66,847.79 points.
In India, the NIFTY 50 index fell 0.11 percent to 24,544 points. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.72 percent to 25,853.69 points.
In China, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.20 percent to 3,947.908 points.
