Russian President Putin congratulated Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on his re-election to the post.

Putin stated that the decision of the deputies of the Supreme People's Assembly clearly demonstrated unanimous public support for Kim Jong-un’s course aimed at effectively implementing North Korea’s socio-economic goals and protecting the country’s sovereignty and its legitimate interests on the international stage.

Putin noted that in Russia, Kim’s personal contribution to strengthening the friendly and allied relations between the two countries is highly valued, and emphasized that close cooperation will continue in order to further develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang.

Putin added that this serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and wished Kim Jong-un success, health, and well-being in his duties.
