Zelensky: Many killed and injured in Russian attacks
Kyiv, August 16 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a statement on Russia’s attacks on various regions of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Russia’s attacks on different parts of the country during the night and morning. Zelensky said 3 people were killed and at least 20 were injured in the attacks.
Zelensky said emergency teams were continuing their work in areas affected by the attacks. He said fires that broke out in Kyiv were quickly extinguished and that 6 people were injured in the city and surrounding areas.
Zelensky said Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih were targeted with ballistic missiles. He said 2 people were killed and 14 injured in Kryvyi Rih, while 1 person was killed in Sumy.
Zelensky said 13 regions of Ukraine were attacked during the week and shared the toll from Russia’s attacks on cities and settlements.
According to the figures, Russian forces launched more than 1,550 attack drones, around 1,560 guided aerial bombs and 62 missiles at Ukraine during the week. Zelensky said most of the missiles were various types of ballistic missiles.
Zelensky said air raid alerts remained in effect in many regions of Ukraine and that Russia had launched a new wave of drone attacks.
Zelensky thanked the State Emergency Service teams, police officers and medical personnel who were the first to arrive at the sites of the attacks.
Noting that these teams were helping the injured and working to save lives and enable a rapid return to normal life after the attacks, Zelensky emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
Zelensky claimed that North Korean ballistic missiles were destroying infrastructure in Europe and causing loss of life, saying that Europe’s air defense capabilities should not remain in storage.
Zelensky said, “Lives must be protected. Russia must be stopped,” thanking the countries supporting Ukraine and noting that new support packages mean lives saved and infrastructure protected every day.
