Türk: Transitional justice is about human rights
New York, Aug. 7 (Hibya) - United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk emphasized that transitional justice must be centered on human rights.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated that human rights are at the core of transitional justice.
Referring to the role of human rights, Türk said: "Transitional justice is about human rights. Human rights are its compass and its destination."
Speaking about the role of the UN Human Rights Office in societal processes, Türk said: "The United Nations Human Rights Office has been working for decades to help communities recover from conflict and oppression."
