According to a statement by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali Al Misnad spoke at the ministerial meeting of least developed countries held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Al Misnad said that support for least developed countries is not only a matter of international solidarity, but also an investment in sustainable development, peace and international stability.

Emphasizing the key role of multilateral cooperation and effective partnerships in achieving inclusive and sustainable development, Al Misnad reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting the world’s least developed countries.

The statement recalled that Qatar hosted the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha in March 2023, and noted that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, pledged a total contribution of 60 million dollars to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action and the achievement of its goals, including 10 million dollars for programme activities and 50 million dollars to strengthen resilience in least developed countries.
