Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez issued a message on the occasion of Catalonia’s National Day. Sanchez emphasized Catalonia’s open, pluralistic and diverse character, saying that the region looks to the future with hope and determination.

Sanchez said: “This September 11, we celebrate an open, pluralistic and diverse Catalonia that looks to the future with hope and determination.”

Stating that Catalonia is moving forward on the basis of coexistence, respect and shared values, Sanchez said: “A Catalonia that moves forward, drawing strength from coexistence, respect and what unites us.”

At the end of his message, Sanchez addressed those living in Catalonia, saying: “Happy National Day to all Catalans!”
